About the Role

We're looking for volunteers who can contribute their skills and time to contribute to the policy development needs of our grassroots campaign for the 2026 Victorian State Election.

Our candidate is intending to develop policy positions based on information from the community and in response to current issues. The policies need to be evidence based and of benefit to the State and local communities. 

Our candidate has been formally endorsed by Voices of Deakin. However, the campaign operates independently from Voices of Deakin, and will recruit, manage, and run its own team and strategy.

This is your chance to play a key role in a campaign that prioritises community voices over party politics – a campaign that sits at the heart of a grassroots movement built on listening, transparency, and authentic community engagement.

How you can help

We're seeking people with skills across a range of areas. You might be interested in one or several – let us know what draws you.

• Opportunity to manage the policy function
• Prepare briefings on topics, policy options and opportunities to inform campaign positioning.
• Offer creative, evidence-based solutions to the challenges the Croydon District faces.
• Research current policy settings, including party platforms, government programs and legislation.
• Conduct research using accurate and reliable sources.
• Monitor current events and prepare briefings and suggested positioning
• Prepare briefings for candidate on specific topics on request.
• Work closely with communications and social media teams to develop messaging

Skills and experience

We're looking for people who are enthusiastic, organised and reliable. Research ability and willingness to consider all options with an open mind are important.

• Commitment to ethical conduct, integrity, and respectful political engagement

Commitment

This is a voluntary position. Hours and timing are flexible and can be tailored to your availability. Much of the work can be done remotely, though in person meetings may be scheduled from time to time.
