Learning Design & Development Specialist

About the role

RelyOn Australia is looking for a Learning Design & Development Specialist to join the team in Bayswater, Melbourne. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the design, development, consolidation, digitisation and continuous improvement of nationally recognised training and assessment resources across the organisation. You will work closely with trainers, assessors, subject matter experts, Quality & Compliance and operational teams to transform learning resources into engaging, practical, compliant and digitally enabled learning experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high-quality learning and assessment resources aligned to Units of Competency and Training Package requirements.

• Develop participant/learner guides, trainer and assessor guides, assessment tools, mapping documents, observation checklists, practical activities, session plans and PowerPoint resources.

• Consolidate multiple versions of training and assessment resources into standardised learning and assessment packages.

• Review resources for quality, accuracy, currency, consistency, usability and compliance.

• Map Performance Criteria, Foundation Skills, Knowledge Evidence and Performance Evidence.

• Conduct pre-assessment reviews with trainers and subject matter experts.

• Support validation, moderation, audit readiness and continuous improvement activities.

• Digitise paper-based learning and assessment resources and support online assessment implementation.

• Develop digital assessments, quizzes, e-learning modules and learner resources.

• Use aXcelerate and other approved systems to support digital learning and assessment workflows.

• Use trainer and learner feedback to continuously improve learning resources and the digital learning experience.

About you

• 2+ years' experience in the VET sector and/or an RTO environment.

• Demonstrated experience designing, developing, reviewing and consolidating learning and assessment resources.

• Experience interpreting Training Packages, qualifications and Units of Competency.

• Experience designing or reviewing assessment tools and mapping documentation.

• A strong understanding of competency-based training and assessment.

• Knowledge of the Standards for RTOs 2025, Principles of Assessment and Rules of Evidence.

• Strong written communication and document development skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and quality focus.

• Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.

• Strong digital literacy, including Microsoft Office 365 and online assessment systems.

• A certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or successor qualification) is desirable.
