Victorian Trades Hall Council
About the role
Victorian Trades Hall Council (VTHC) is the voice of Victorians at work, coordinating the efforts of 40 affiliated unions and over 500,000 union members.
We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic group of State Election Interns to join our Campaigns Team, increasing our capacity to make a difference in the final stretch of the Victorian State Election.
Applicants must be available for at least three days per week (0.6 FTE).
This is a fixed-term contract that will commence on Monday 28 September and conclude on Friday 4 December.
Through the Victorian Trades Hall Council, you’ll be part of a supportive team, where you will:
In a typical week, Interns may find themselves making persuasive calls to union members, helping distribute campaign materials to union offices, and recruiting volunteers to cover a Pre-Poll or Election Day booth.
During an election campaign, we often work irregular hours (so we can reach workers outside of their working hours), which may include weekend street stalls, night-time phone banks and morning train station flyering.
As such, some flexibility in availability will be required (with time-in-lieu provided as per the VTHC EBA).
The program is based at the Victorian Trades Hall in Melbourne’s CBD.
However, travel will be required into various electorates, for which transport or travel reimbursement will be provided.
This internship will be paid at Level 1 ($63,670 per annum) of the VTHC classification structure.
If you're not sure you meet all the criteria above, but have the passion and determination to contribute to positive change for Victorian workers, we encourage you to apply.
The VTHC is committed to a culturally inclusive workplace and we strongly encourage people from First Nations, CALD backgrounds, people of all abilities, women and LGBTIQA+ people to apply.
A statement of available adjustments will be provided upon request to people with a disability.
