Full-Time Cafe Chef | Day Shifts + Tips | Woollahra

Cafe Cressida is seeking an experienced Commis or Demi chef to join our small kitchen team in Woollahra.

This is a full-time breakfast and lunch role with predominantly daytime hours. The roster averages 38 hours across five shifts. Any additional hours are paid in accordance with the award, including overtime where applicable. Typical shifts commence between 7:00am and 8:00am and finish between 2:30pm and 4:00pm.

We provide transparent, properly recorded, award-classified employment, including payslips, applicable penalty and overtime rates, and superannuation.

Applicants must already hold valid Australian work rights permitting full-time employment. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

We are recruiting for either a Commis Chef (Level 4 - cook grade 3 tradesperson) or Demi Chef (Level 5 - cook grade 4 tradesperson), depending on experience. Current full-time pay rates under the Restaurant Industry Award are:

Level 4 - cook grade 3 tradesperson

Monday to Friday: $29.45 per hour   

Saturday: $36.81 per hour

Sunday: $44.18 per hour

Level 5 - cook grade 4 tradesperson

Monday to Friday: $31.30 per hour 

Saturday: $39.13 per hour

Sunday: $46.95 per hour

Cafe Cressida is a Parisian-inspired neighbourhood cafe in the historic Queens Court building, in the heart of Woollahra village. We serve a loyal local clientele across breakfast and lunch and are known for warm hospitality, quality produce and carefully presented dishes.

The role

You will help deliver consistent preparation and service across our breakfast and lunch menu.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and present high-quality breakfast and lunch dishes.

• Maintain consistency in food quality, presentation and food safety.

• Assist with food preparation, stock rotation and kitchen organisation.

• Complete opening, closing and cleaning procedures.

• Work collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams.

• Contribute to a clean, efficient and positive kitchen environment.

Requirements

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.

• Available to work weekends

• Current Australian work rights permitting full-time employment

• Good organisation, reliability and attention to detail

• A calm, cooperative approach during service

• Physically capable of performing the duties of the role, including standing for extended periods and undertaking manual handling and repetitive tasks in a busy kitchen environment.
